Submission Guidelines

The Manhattan Review publishes only poetry, reviews of poetry books, and poetry-related essays. The editor requests that you observe the following guidelines:

• Send with SASE and brief bio.

• Submissions read from January through June.

• Query first about ideas for reviews or essays.

• Read the magazine or the online archive before submitting work.

• If possible, avoid simultaneous submissions. If you are submitting work simultaneously,  include notification in your cover letter.

• For submitted work, query by mail rather than by email.

• Poets submitting from abroad may send their work via e-mail to phfried@gmail.com.

The Manhattan Review has only first North American serial rights for the work it publishes.
